What I've been doing lately

It's been a while since my last post, so I'm going to tell you about what has happened these past weeks.

Homework took up a lot of my free time last week. I don't like homework. We do enough work at school, and I don't think there needs to be more done at home. Six hours of doing work at school is enough.  That's just my opinion though.

Then this past weekend I got my birthday present!  A turtle :) It's name is Tuck, like the name from the Wonder Pets. He's small and really cute. I have a 15 gallon tank that I keep him in, I love to watch him swimming around in it. I also have three little fish in the tank with him.

Each Tuesday night I go to hip hop class. I love to do hip hop. I've been dancing since I was three. Out of all the different kinds of dancing I've done, hip hop has to be one of my favourites.

My brothers and I go outside to play basketball a lot. It's fun. The best part is when I beat them. :)

This weekend we're having 30 hour famine at school. We start at 9:00 a.m on Friday morning, and get to stay over night at the school until Saturday afternoon. It's going to be really fun. We get to play hide and seek in the dark, watch movies and do a lot of other fun stuff. I'm looking forward to it.. I'm not looking forward to the starving part though. Everybody that's going had to do pledges. You had to get at least $40 in pledges or you're not able to go.

Pink

It was spring break and my mom and I were going grad dress shopping. I was graduating from the junior high this year and I had no idea what I was going to wear. All the girls were going to be wearing dresses. You see, I'm the type of girl that would rather wear basketball shorts and a hoodie, not a dress. In my fourteen years, I think I've only wore a dress two or three times. Except the days that my mom would dress me up in dresses and skirts when I was like four.

We were in a store called Pink, and honestly I don't think I've ever been in store that has had as much dresses and pink things as this one. Everywhere I looked was pink, dresses or something really girly. Totally not my type.

My mom walked over to a rack of dresses beside the counter. She picked one out and turned around to face me. "What about this one sweetie?"

The dress was pink with bright yellow flowers and was very frilly. "Mom, what is that? I'm fourteen not four. Geez!" I exclaimed.

"Sarah, this dress is pretty decent. You're only going to be wearing it for about an hour or two."

"Umm.. No mom, just no." I replied as I went over to another rack of dresses. I picked up a pink one that didn't have straps. It was a halter top kinda thing.

"Do you like that one?" My mom said hesitantly.

"Yeah, i suppose. It's definitely better than that little toddler dress you liked."

"Well I guess... But are you sure you want that?"

"Nope, but I'd rather wear this than any other dress." I shot back at my mom.

"Okay, well go and see if you can try it on."

"Fine." I went over and asked the lady at the counter if I could use the fitting rooms. She got keys and unlocked one of the rooms for me.

I put the dress on and came out.

"So, whatdya think?"

"Well, let's see. I don't think you have it on right. I'll go ask for some advice."

A Joke Gone Wrong

 Number two:
Sam felt the sun shining down on his shoulders while he sat happily by the stream. It was a perfect sunny day and luckily he was spending it with Sarah. Then, all at once Sarah pointed at the water. “Look Sam!” Sarah exclaimed. “It is a…”

 "Swimming monkey!"

"What are you talking about Sarah? Monkeys don't swim, everybody knows that!" replied Sam.

"Well, this monkey does swim! Come take a look. I'm not joking."

"Okay, okay. You better be serious." Sam walked over to the big rock that Sarah was pointing to. He jumped on it so he could get a better view.

"Do ya see it? Do you?" Sarah asked as she slowly walked up behind him.

"Umm... Nope, no I-" Sam's sentence got cut off when Sarah pushed him into the stream. Sarah stood there waiting for him to come above the water, she was counting the seconds out loud.

"One.. Two... Three... Four... Five..."

"Oh no... I didn't mean for anything bad to happen, it was just a joke," Sarah thought to herself. She started panicking. "What have I done? Sam's my bestfriend, and now, now he's gone."

She put her hand in her pocket to get her cell phone. It wasn't there. "Where could it be?" Thought Sarah. Then she remembered, Sam had taken it from her earlier and hid it in his pocket. She started crying. Her house wasn't anywhere close. She and Sam had gotten there on quads. It would take at least fifteen minutes to get back home and by then it would be too late.

She turned around and saw her quad sitting there. Yellow with black stripes, like a bumblebee. She quickly grabbed her helmet, started her quad and headed home. Going as fast as the quad would go. She was freaking out. She saw the tall trees which meant her house was near. The trees were getting bigger and bigger as she was getting closer. It felt like forever by the time she pulled into her lane. She jumped off the quad and ran into her house. She smelt the sweet smell of chicken and knew that her mom was making supper. There was no time whatsoever to be hungry she had to help Sam!

"Mom. Mom!" Sarah yelled as she ran into the kitchen, gasping for air.

"Sarah what have I told you about coming in the kitchen with your shoes on? I just cleaned the floor!" Said her mom.

"Mom, there's no time for an argument. Sam, he, he. I need help!"

"Sarah, calm down. What happened to Sam?"

"He fell into the stream and, and he never came up!"

"Oh no Sarah. Go get your dad, he's outside and I'll call the ambulance. Hurry."

Sarah left the house in a hurry and ran across the yard to her dad who was just loading his semi."Dad! Dad come inside. Hurry! It's an emergency!"

Her dad shut off the semi and ran inside. Her mom gave him a short, quick version of what had happened. They jumped in the truck, her dad driving, mom in the passenger seat and she sat in the back.

"Dad! Drive Faster!"

"Sarah, I'm going as fast as I can. I promise," Sarah sat there, shaking as they neared the stream.

As soon as they were coming to a stop she tried to open her door but it was locked. "Dad, unlock the doors. Come on."

Sarah jumped out and went over to the big rock. The one that Sam had fallen off. She got there and heard sirens. She looked over, she saw two police cars and an ambulance.

When the police cars and ambulance got there, they jumped out their vehicles and started looking around the stream. Sarah went over to the bridge, to look over there but a police man started yelling at her.

"It's too dangerous over there. We don't need you falling in as well. Stay here," The police man said as he went over and guided her over to where her parents were standing.

A paramedic came out from underneath the bridge carrying Sam. He was breathing. He seemed perfectly fine.

Sarah once again, started crying. But this time she was happy that Sam was alive.

"Sam!" Exclaimed Sarah as she ran over to him. The paramedic put him down. He was standing, soaking wet.

My Favourite Memory :)

One of my favourite grade 8 memories would have to be when Ashley was calling her Mom in the office one day and after she hung up she started swearing because she couldn't remember her Grandma's number. She decided to run across to see her Grandma and as soon as she left everybody in the office started laughing. It was funny :)

My other grade 8 memory was when Marc and Brett dressed up as girls for Halloween. They stuffed pillows down their pants, wore wigs, tank tops and spandex shorts. It was funny, yet very disturbing. Everybody that walked past our class room stopped to take a second look at them, then started to laugh.

One of my favourite grade 7 memories was when we were sitting in Mr. Routledge's class and Meaghan knocked over her water bottle and it had a hole in it and started spilling everywhere. She said , "Mr. Routledge, my water broke!" Everyone in the class started laughing, including Mr. Routledge and Meaghan couldn't understand what she had said that had been so funny.

Another grade 7 memory was when we were in our basketball tournament and everybody ran down to the other side of the gym, except for Rhyan who was still at our side of the court trying to shoot on our basket. She must have made about 20 attempts to make a basket but thankfully, she missed everytime. Everybody was yelling at her to stop and they finally had to get the referee to blow the whistle to get her to stop. It was funny. :)

The Beginning of The End

The girl had never been so upset in her life, the boy who she had been dating for the past year and a half had just broke up with her over a 40 second phone call. The words that he had said kept going through her head, "Sara, I think it's time for us to go our separate ways. It's not you, its me."

What kind of excuse is that? She thought to herself. I thought we were perfect for each other. Sara had been so happy while they were dating, and now this. She heard a phone ringing from downstairs and sat perfectly still on her bed so she could try and eavesdrop on the conversation. She heard her mom's voice saying, "Hi Bryanna. I dunno if Sara's ready to go out yet, she's still really devastated. But I guess it would be good for her............ Just a minute I'll go upstairs and let her talk to you."

Sara heard footsteps coming up the stairs, she quickly turned over, put her blanket over her and pretended that she was sleeping. Her mom walked in and realized she was sleeping so she left her room and shut the door behind her. Sara couldn't hear what her mom was saying to Bryanna after that, it was all just a faint voice.

As soon as she was sure that her mom was downstairs she sat up, grabbed her cellphone from her desk and called Bryanna. The phone rang twice and then Sara heard the friendly voice that she had known for as long as she could remember, "Sara! How are you? I called like 10 minutes ago and your mom said that you were sleeping."

"Hey Bryanna," Sara replied, "I'm better now, but I still don't know what happened. Everything was perfect and then, BAM! It was over."

Christmas Break 2010

My Christmas break started really boring and bad but it turned out to be pretty good. During the first week, I had strep throat so I wasn't able to do much. I couldn't go visit friends and my throat hurt to much to go outside, so I pretty much sat and watched movies.

On Christmas morning my 9 year old brother came into my room at 3:47 and woke me up. I told him to go back to bed and sleep until at least 7. He came back into my room at 4:30 and told me that he couldn't sleep any longer, I told him that if he didn't go back to sleep I wouldn't give him his gift. He went back to his bed and came into my room about an hour later. I ended up going to his room and we watched a movie until 7:30, then we went upstairs to open our gifts.

My niece, her mom and my brother came to our house on Christmas day, we all ate our Christmas dinner together. After that we exchanged gifts and then they had to go home.

For Christmas I got a pink camera from my parents and a lot of clothes. I also got a few movies and a lot of other things. In money I got $130.00. On boxing day I went to Brandon and bought an iPod touch with my money that I had gotten for Christmas and other money that I had saved up.

On New Year's Eve my family and I stayed at home. We watched a movie, played a couple games on our Wii and watched some T.V. On New Year's day we went to Regina, because my parents thought that since we hadn't done much this holiday it would be fun. We had a lot of fun in Regina and I was sad that we had to come back home and go to school.

The very last day of my Christmas break I had dance class, after that I went to my friends house and we played games on the Wii, it was a lot of fun!

New Year's Resolutions 2011

My new year's resolutions for 2011 are:
  1. To save up some money so that when I go shopping I can actually buy stuff.
  2. Be on time for the bus in the morning.
  3. Get at least 70% or higher on all my science and social tests.
  4. Exercise more
  5. If my parents tell me to do something, I'll do it right away, not wait until they get mad.
  6. Clean my room on a regular basis.
